BACKGROUND

The Marana Town Clerk is the filing officer for all municipal elections and responsible for coordinating elections with the Pima County Recorder’s Office and the Pima County Elections Department. Please direct all questions related to candidate filing and submission of campaign finance reports to the Town Clerk’s Office at (520) 382-1962.

Prospective candidates can make an appointment with the Town Clerk to review the candidate packet and discuss the election process at any time. Informational appointments generally last 30 minutes.

As of January 2020, the Town of Marana has 29,607 registered voters, with 22,107 of those voters enrolled on the Permanent Early Voting List (PEVL). Candidate nomination petitions must contain a minimum of 282 to a maximum of 564 signatures of eligible voters within Marana corporate limits. Historically, the Primary Election determines the winners for open council seats. A candidate will continue to the General Election only if a majority victor cannot be determined at the primary election.
