Marana Citizen Representative to the Tucson – Pima County Bicycle Advisory Committee

The Town of Marana is seeking a qualified Town resident to fill a vacant position on the Tucson - Pima County Bicycle Advisory Committee (TPCBAC). The appointed person will represent the Town of Marana serving as a voting member on the committee.

The TPCBAC serves in an advisory capacity to local governments on matters related to bicycle recreation, transportation, and safety. The TPCBAC promotes the development of a safe and viable bicycling environment throughout the Pima County region.

Committee meetings are regularly scheduled from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on the second Wednesday of each month at the Ward 6 City Council Office in the city of Tucson. 

If you are interested in promoting and advocating for better bicycling facilities, cleaner air, and a healthier community, please join us on the Tucson-Pima County Bicycle Advisory Committee. Additional elements not required by law but included in the proposed Marana 2040 General Plan include Economic Vitality and an Arts & Culture Element.

HEALTH CARE BENEFITS TRUST

The Town of Marana is seeking four community members who are willing to volunteer their time to serve as a Trustee for the Marana Health Care Benefits Trust.   

State statute requires that a municipality with a self-funded program for employee benefits establish a Health Benefits Trust when that municipality is located in a county with a population of 1,000,000 people or more. The purpose of the Trust is to hold, invest, and administer Trust funds to provide benefits to Participants and their Beneficiaries and to defray the reasonable expenses of administering the benefit plans and the Trust. 

The Marana Town Council will appoint four individuals to serve as Trustees overseeing the management and administration of the Trust.  Each Trustee appointed must accept the appointment in writing and confirm in writing that the Trustee agrees to hold and administer the Funds, in trust, pursuant to the Trust Document. 

Applicants must have expertise in at least one of the following fields: finance, employee benefits, health care, human resources or risk management. Applicants must reside in Pima or Pinal County. 

Each Trustee will serve a four-year term, unless a term is terminated earlier.  The initial terms for the first four Trustees will be as follows:  two Trustees to serve an initial term of two years; and two Trustees to serve an initial term of four years.  The Council will determine which of the first four Trustees will serve the two-year and four-year terms. 

The Trustees will meet quarterly at the Marana Municipal Complex; the date, time and location to be announced prior to each meeting.

BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT

 The Town of Marana is seeking a qualified citizen to fill an unexpired term beginning May 2019 and expiring February 28, 2022.

 The Marana Board of Adjustment is a 7-member quasi-judicial body of citizens whose main functions are (1) to hear and decide citizen appeals from the Zoning Administrator's interpretations of the Marana zoning regulations; and (2) to consider citizen requests for variances from Marana zoning regulations. Applicants must be Marana residents.

Scheduled meetings are at 2:00 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month in the Council Chambers, or as needed.  The deadline to submit an application is June 10, 2019.

 All applications will remain active for one year from the date of receipt.
