Marana police officers and Town staff participate in the 911 Tower Challenge

This Wednesday, on the 18 year anniversary of September 11, 2001, Marana PD officers and Town of Marana staff joined other public safety personnel from all over Metro Tucson in ceremonies of remembrance for those lost, for those that paid the ultimate sacrifice, and for those that continue to hold the line and protect our communities. The 911 Tower Challenge held at University of Arizona reached maximum capacity attendance with just over 1,600 participants. Marana Detective De La Torre organized the Marana team.

The World Trade Center's Twin Towers each consisted of 110 floors and 2071 steps, and each year thousands of people across Arizona walk, climb and run the stairs to remember. Firefighters in full gear, Police, Military and Bomb Squad personnel march steadily alongside civilians of all ages, abilities and backgrounds.
