OUR WATER MATTERS
Because we live in the desert, water is a most precious resource. The Marana Water Department works to ensure that customers have safe, adequate and reliable water resources for our growing community. We must all do our part to use water wisely. Please browse the conservation webpage for water conservation resources, drought status and rebate information
Interested in learning more about our water resources? The Citizens’ Water Academy is an opportunity for Marana Water residential customers (only) to hear more about the department, our operations, water conservation, and how you can conserve water in and around the home. Click the Registration Form button below.
*Class dates will be posted here once a class is scheduled. Please check back periodically.
**By participating in the program, we will need to collect some survey data regarding your water use trends once the program is complete.
DROUGHT PREPAREDNESS
CURRENT DROUGHT RESPONSE STAGE: STAGE ONE
Marana's Drought Preparedness Plan - Marana’s Drought Preparedness Plan (DPP) was created working with regional partners. The DPP was first adopted in 2007 to heighten awareness and provide a response to potential reduction in our available water supply due to drought. The Plan includes indicators and triggers that determine which of the four stages, in increasing severity, are selected and outlines the actions and potential actions at each stage. Under Stage One of our plan, Marana Water requests voluntary conservation, asking customers to reduce consumption by 5% through limiting landscape irrigation and avoiding outdoor water uses like misters and car washes when possible. In the years since its adoption, Marana Water has diligently acquired renewable water supplies and grown its service area. In 2023, the Drought Preparedness Plan was updated in cooperation with regional partners and the Citizens Water Academy. Marana Water partners with state and local entities to monitor drought. Find out more information on state-wide and local drought conditions through ADWR and LDIG. To review the Plan, click on Marana's Drought Preparedness Plan.
