Tangerine Road Traffic Alert: Sept. 26

On Tuesday, September 26, the contractor will complete reconstruction work on Thornydale Road about 1,500 feet south of the Tangerine Road intersection. 

  • Traffic along north and southbound Thornydale Road will be shifted to the west and reduced to one travel-lane from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Flaggers will be on site to direct alternate one-way traffic through the work area.
  • Motorists will be driving on unpaved surfaces.
  • Speed limits are reduced to 25 MPH.
  • Motorists should expect delays.

Traffic Alert: Upcoming nighttime closures of Cracker Barrel Road

In association with the Town of Marana’s Cracker Barrel Roadway Restoration project, overnight work to upgrade water service lines for various businesses situated along Cracker Barrel Road will result in a series of closures between Cortaro Road and Arizona Pavilions Drive. The road will close each night for three consecutive nights and re-open at approximately 5 a.m. the next morning for daytime use. The closures, for all traffic, will be phased as follows:

  •  Tuesday, September 26th, 8 p.m. until Wednesday, September 27th, 5 a.m.
    • Cracker Barrel Road between Cortaro Road and Hospitality Road
  •  Wednesday, September 27th, 10 p.m. until Thursday, September 28th, 5 a.m.
    • Cracker Barrel Road between Hospitality Road and Arizona Pavilions Drive
  •  Thursday, September 28th, 10 p.m. until Friday, September 29th, 5 a.m.
    •  Cracker Barrel Road between Hospitality Road and Arizona Pavilions Drive

Directional signs and traffic control devices will be set up to guide vehicles along the applicable detour routes.

For your safety and that of the contractor’s personnel, please comply with all traffic control devices, flagging personnel, and/or detour signs. Travel time through the project area may increase during construction so please adjust your schedule accordingly. Construction may restrict traffic lanes and create congestion. Taking alternate routes is suggested.

If inclement weather or other events cause delays, the work may be rescheduled without further notice.

Tangerine Road Traffic Alert: 09/25

Beginning at 5 a.m. on Monday, September 25 through 10 p.m. Wednesday, September 27, the contractor will complete paving operations in the intersection and adjacent roadways of Tangerine and Thornydale Roads.  The following traffic control will be in place at the Tangerine/Thornydale Road intersection during this work:

  • Marana police department will be on site to help direct alternate one-way traffic through the intersection.
  • All turn movements will be allowed, however, there will not be any dedicated turn lanes.
  • Traffic will be shifted around the work area.
  • Traffic control will remain in place 24 hours 
  • Motorists should expect delays

Construction along Cracker Barrel Road to begin September 11th

Construction along Cracker Barrel Road between Cortaro Road and Arizona Pavilions Drive will begin on Monday, 9/11/2017 and is expected to continue for approximately three months. The work will include water service line adjustments, replacement of the existing underground storm drain system, new asphalt pavement, sidewalk repairs, and ADA improvements. Work crews will be active Monday through Friday, from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m.

During the project, traffic movement along Cracker Barrel Road will be restricted to northbound, one way travel only. Directional signs and traffic control devices will be set up to guide vehicles through the work area. Business access will be maintained during construction.

For your safety and that of the contractor’s personnel, please comply with all traffic control devices, flagging personnel, and/or detour signs. Tangerine Road Construction Update: Sept. 5, Sept. 7

There are two new projects beginning next week as part of the Tangerine Corridor Project. Although they are not actually in the Town of Marana, they could impact those who use Tangerine for their daily commute. 

Beginning at 5 a.m. on Tuesday, September 5 through 10 p.m. on Thursday, September 7, the contractor will remove the median on Tangerine Road, just west of the La Cañada intersection. During this work, westbound Tangerine Road will be reduced to one through lane. The eastbound designated left turn lane at the Tangerine Road/La Cañada intersection will be temporarily closed. However, left turns will be permitted from the through lane. The speed limit will be reduced to 25 mph, expect delays.

Beginning Thursday, September 7 at 10 p.m. the contractor will shift traffic to the south along Tangerine Road, between La Cholla and La Cañada, in order to build the new westbound lanes of Tangerine Road. East and westbound traffic along Tangerine Road will be reduced to one lane in each direction, just west of the La Cañada intersection. The speed limit in that area will remain 25 mph. 

**Following this work traffic control will be significantly different, please take extra caution when driving through the area.**

Roadwork Update: Marana/Sandario

The Town of Marana will be realigning Marana Road, and as part of the project will be installing a traffic circle on Sandario Road. Sandario Road between Denny Street and the McDonald’s access will be closed for the installation of a new traffic circle. Traffic on that portion of Sandario will be detoured until October. The complete Marana Road realignment will be complete in December.

For your safety and that of the contractor’s personnel, please comply with traffic control devices, flagging personnel, and/or detour signs.

Detour Info:

Residential vehicles will be able to detour through McDonald's entrance at Sandario Road to Denny Street and access Sandario Road.

Commercial vehicles will detour on I-10 Frontage Road to McDuff Road to Grier Road to access Sandario Road.

Travel time through the project area may increase during construction so please adjust your schedule accordingly. Construction will increase congestion in the area. Taking alternate routes is suggested.

Tangerine Roadwork Update: August 1

The various projects on Tangerine have had some slight schedule changes. A few are running a little long, while some will end faster than expected. Here is the latest update.

 The project to work on waterlines on Camino de Oeste south of Tangerine Road will last until Friday, August 4. During this work, traffic will be shifted around the work area, allowing one lane in each direction. Resident access will be maintained during construction. Traffic control will be in place 24 hours a day.

Paving on Tangerine continues through Thursday, August 3 from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. The contractor is ahead of schedule paving the new westbound lanes of Tangerine Road from Tangerine Crossing Drive to La Cholla Boulevard. Beginning Wednesday August 2nd, paving will begin on side street entrances on the north side of Tangerine Road from Tangerine Crossing Drive to La Cholla Boulevard. Side streets will be intermittently closed as paving equipment progresses through the area. Please expect delays. 

Beginning Wednesday, August 2nd, from 5:30 am - 3:00 pm, the southbound La Cholla left turn lane onto eastbound Tangerine will be closed.  Left turns can be made from the southbound through lane.  Watch for signage.

Beginning Thursday, August 3rd, from 5:30 am - 3:00 pm, the northbound La Cholla left turn lane onto westbound Tangerine will be closed.  Left turns can be made from the northbound through lane.  Watch for signage.

Tangerine Roadwork Update: 7/31

Three new road projects begin on Tangerine on Monday, July 31.

Beginning Monday, July 31 through Wednesday, August 2, from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day, the contractor will work on waterlines on Camino de Oeste south of Tangerine Road. During this work, traffic will be shifted around the work area, allowing one lane in each direction. Resident access will be maintained during construction. Traffic control will be in place 24 hours a day.

Beginning Monday, July 31, the contractor will begin construction on the new northbound lanes of Thornydale Road. During this work, traffic will be shifted to the west on Thornydale Road south of Tangerine Road. Traffic will be maintained to one through lane in each direction and a left turn lane in each direction at the intersection of Thornydale Road and Tangerine Road. Traffic control will be in place 24 hours. Work is anticipated to be complete by mid-September.

Beginning Monday, July 31 through Thursday, August 3 from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day, the contractor will pave the new westbound lanes of Tangerine Road from Tangerine Crossing Drive to La Cholla Boulevard. During this work, all side street entrances on the north side of Tangerine Road from Tangerine Crossing Drive to La Cholla Boulevard will be intermittently closed as paving equipment progresses through the area. Please expect delays.

Tangerine Roadwork Update: July 26-27

Three new projects will be starting this week on Tangerine Road and could affect traffic in the area. Drivers who use Tangerine Road should be advised and use caution in these areas.

 Beginning Thursday, July 27 through Friday, July 28, from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day, Tangerine Corridor Constructors will pave the Circle K driveway off of Tangerine Road. During this time, the driveway will be temporarily closed. Access will be maintained from Thornydale Road.

On Friday, July 28 from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tangerine Corridor Constructors will pave all of the Fry's shopping center driveways and the Tangerine Crossing driveway off of Thornydale Road. During this work, driveways will be intermittently closed, with at least one open at all times to maintain business and resident access. Expect slight delays.

Beginning Friday, July 28 at 10 p.m., Tangerine Corridor constructors will shift east and westbound traffic to the north (the new westbound lanes) from the McDonald's driveway to just west of Circle K. The traveling public can anticipate slight delays while traffic is being shifted into the new westbound lanes.

Traffic Update: Camino de Oeste/Cortaro Farms Rd

GRG Construction will be installing water service for the construction of a new subdivision. The majority of work will be held in the shoulder of southbound lane towards Cortaro Farms Rd. The remaining work will be a single lane closure with flaggers to direct traffic when GRG Construction is connecting to water main.

The project will begin on July 24 and run until Aug. 24.

Beginning Monday, July 24, Tangerine Corridor Constructors will install signal loops on Camino de Manana at Tangerine Road. This work is scheduled from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day and will continue through the end of the week, weather permitting. During this time, residents and the traveling public can expect the following:

  • Northbound Camino de Manana at Tangerine Road will be reduced to one lane
  • All turn movements will be permitted
  • Traffic control will be in place 24 hours a day
  • Expect delays 

UPDATE: Beginning Tuesday, July 25 at 6 a.m. through Wednesday, July 26 at 4 p.m., Tangerine Corridor Constructors will pave the northeast corner of the Tangerine Road/Thornydale Road intersection. Residents and the traveling public can expect the following:

  • No right turns will be permitted from westbound Tangerine Road to northbound Thornydale Road
  • There will be no designated left turn lane in any direction
  • All driveways on Thornydale Road, north of Tangerine Road will be intermittently closed during paving operations on Tuesday, July 25
  • All Fry's driveways, including McDonald's, will be closed intermittently during paving operations on Wednesday, July 26
  • Expect delays

Traffic Update: Continental Reserve Loop 7/17-8/4

Dirt Works Contracting will be connecting water and sewer lines for new building development behind the Quick Mart at Continental Reserve Loop. The project is scheduled to begin on July 17 and run through Aug. 4.

Traffic Update: Travel Center Dr 7/13-7/21

Between July 13 and July 21, Tricon Construction will be installing a fire hydrant into new building development on Travel Center Drive between just north of Sydney Teresa Way. Tricon will have to cut into road to tap into water main and install water line to new fire hydrant.

During construction travel will be shut down to a single lane and a flagger between 6 am - 6 pm.

Tangerine Roadwork Update July 13 - Updated

Due to heavy rains on Monday night the originally scheduled work that was set to begin on Wednesday, July 12 will now be starting on Thursday, July 13 beginning at 6 a.m., weather permitting. Further rains could push the project back until Friday, July 14 or Monday, July 17.

When the project begins, the contractor will be repairing utility lines on La Cholla Boulevard just north of Tangerine Road. This work is scheduled to be complete by the end of the day, weather permitting. During this time, traffic will be shifted around the work areas and left turns will not be permitted from north or southbound La Cholla Boulevard. Speeds will also be reduced to 25 MPH, expect delays.

  • Tangerine Crossing Drive at Thornydale Road will be temporarily closed. Resident access will be maintained from Tangerine Road 
  • Expect slight delays

Beginning Monday, June 26 through Thursday, June 29 (weather permitting) from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day, Tangerine Corridor Constructors will pave the new westbound lanes of Tangerine Road from Dove Mountain/Twin Peaks to just west of Camino de Oeste. During this work, residents and the traveling public can expect the following:

  • Side streets and driveways will be intermittently closed as paving progresses along Tangerine Road
  • Closures will last for a few hours at a time. Expect delays
  • Business access and resident access will be maintained at all times through alternate routes
  • Please expect increased truck traffic during these activities

Tangerine Roadwork Update: June 19-22

 
 

Beginning Monday, June 19, Tangerine Corridor Constructors (TCC) will temporarily close Como Drive at Tangerine Road due to the safety concern of the extreme grade difference between the existing intersection, and the new Tangerine Road alignment. Access will be maintained to Como Drive from Limewood Drive. The closure will continue through the end of August, weather permitting, while the contractor finishes the new westbound lanes in that area.

Beginning Tuesday, June 20 through Thursday, June 22, from 5 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day, Tangerine Corridor Constructors will be installing traffic signal loops at the Tangerine Road and Camino de Oeste intersection. Residents and the traveling public can expect the following:

  • Intermittent lane restrictions and turn restrictions at the intersection
  • Restrictions will change daily
  • Traffic control will be in place 24 hours a day
  • Expect slight delays

On Monday, June 5, from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m., Tangerine Corridor Constructors will patch trenches along Tangerine Road. During this work, residents and the traveling public can expect the following:

  • Traffic will be shifted around the work areas
  • Flaggers will be onsite to help direct traffic 
  • Speed limits will be reduced to 25 MPH
  • Expect slight delays

On Monday, June 5, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Tangerine Corridor Constructors will patch trenches at the Tangerine Road and La Cholla Boulevard intersection. During this work, residents and the traveling public can expect the following:

  • Traffic will be shifted to the north 
  • Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction
  • Westbound traffic will have a dedicated right turn lane
  • All turning movements will be permitted

On Tuesday night, June 6, at 8 p.m., crews will begin shifting traffic to the new southbound lanes of Thornydale Road and installing temporary pavement markings at the Tangerine Road and Thornydale Road intersection. Residents and the traveling public can expect the following:

  • North and southbound traffic will be shifted to the new southbound travel lanes of Thornydale Road from Misty Breeze Lane to just south of Tangerine Road
  • East and westbound traffic will be unaffected
  • The speed limit is 25 MPH
  • Expect delays

Overhead utility work scheduled along Interstate 10 and Ina Road

 
 

The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers to plan for the following restriction as construction of the Interstate 10 and Ina Road traffic interchange continues:

I-10 will be closed intermittently in both directions at Ina Road between 6 and 10 a.m. Sunday, June 4, for overhead utility work. Drivers should expect delays of up to 15 minutes.

ADOT works to inform the public about planned highway restrictions and closures, but it’s possible that unscheduled impacts might occur because of weather or other factors. For the most current information about highway conditions statewide, visit ADOT’s Traveler Information Site at www.az511.gov follow ADOT on Twitter (@ArizonaDOT) or call 511, except while driving.
