PROJECT OVERVIEW
The Town of Marana and its Design-Build Team, led by Borderland Construction, have begun preliminary field surveys and data collection to support the design of the North Marana Sewer Interceptor project – over four miles of new gravity sewer pipelines and infrastructure.
This project will increase the Towns capacity to convey raw sewage to the Marana Water Reclamation Facility and is needed to accommodate wastewater infrastructure needs of new development projects already in the planning stages, along with those anticipated in the near future.
JUNE 27, 2023 TRAFFIC ALERT: SAGEBRUSH AND SANDERS ROADS EXCAVATIONS AND GEOTECHNICAL INVESTIGATIONS
As part of the project design field activities, Borderland will be performing intermittent temporary excavations and geotechnical investigations along Sagebrush and Sanders roads (click here to view the map as a PDF). The excavation test results will provide soil site conditions that are needed for design and construction recommendations. Motorists, bicyclists, and pedestrians will see equipment, work crews, and short-term traffic control during this phase of investigative work.
Temporary road closures will occur at one location at a time. There will NOT be simultaneous work at multiple locations.
Temporary excavations will occur on Wednesday, June 28, and Thursday, June 29, from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day.
Temporary excavations are expected to be complete by the end of the day on June 29, 2023.
Motorists, bicyclists and pedestrian traffic should anticipate minor lane shifts and/or occasional temporary lane closures in the area of the temporary excavations.
If/when needed, temporary traffic control devices will be placed to direct traffic around the work area.
This work may not be completed in sequential order.
Sewer installation construction will not begin before early Fall 2023
*The above work schedule may be impacted by weather or mechanical failure
During the temporary excavations and geotechnical investigations, there will be large equipment and support vehicles entering and exiting the work area.
