MARANA- The Parks and Recreation team is giving a historical art piece in town a new look as it works to restore and preserve the “Man on the Horse.”
Maintenance staff had relocated the statue to Marana Heritage River Park where they have been restoring the piece before an unveiling at the Town of Marana Presents: Fall Festival on October 15. The unveiling is scheduled for 4 p.m. on October 15, 2022.
“This statue used to sit outside the Circle K on Marana Road. When we redid that area over there, we had brought it over here and stored it back at Heritage Farm so we decided to bring it out, do some repair on it and display it again,” said Nate Jansky.
The work includes stucco restoration and a fresh coat of paint. Marana Parks Maintenance Supervisor Nate Jansky also said they will be adding some flower pots around the statue with wooden fencing.
The “Man on the Horse” was a joint project between the Marana Parks and Recreation Department and the Marana Unified School District.
