Traffic Alert: Construction of Silverbell Road Sidewalk Infill Project

Beginning Monday, July 1, the Town of Marana and its contractor, Falcone Brothers & Associates, will be constructing new sidewalks, upgrading various curb ramps, improving various driveway aprons, and installing handrail along the south and west sides of N. Silverbell Road from N. Silvermoon Way to N. Wade Road. Also, new sidewalks and curb ramps will be constructed along a segment of N. Continental Reserve Loop in front of the Quik Mart convenience store. The purpose of this project is to provide pedestrians with a continuous, safe and accessible way along N. Silverbell Road from W. Twin Peaks Road to N. Wade Road. The project is scheduled to be completed by October 1.  

Construction crews will typically be active Monday through Friday, from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. During these hours, adjacent to the designated work areas, right-lane closures will be implemented along southbound/eastbound Silverbell Road, southbound Continental Reserve Loop, and at various intersecting side streets and driveways. Directional signs and traffic control devices will be set up to detour vehicles around the work area. Access to businesses will be maintained at all times.

Traffic Alert: Twin Peaks-Blue Bonnet Road Gravity Sewer Project

On Monday, July 1, the contractor will begin sewer installation along Hartman Lane between the cul-de-sac on Hartman Lane, just south of Eaglestone Loop, and Camino Horizante(SEE MAP) This closure will be in place 24-hours per day.

  • The intersection of Eaglestone Loop and Hartman Lane will be closed.

  • Southbound only turn movements will be permitted from the cul-de-sac to Hartman Lane.

  • Motorists wanting access to Eaglestone Loop can use Fireopal Way as an alternate route

  • North and southbound travel will be permitted on Hartman Lane between Cortaro Farms Road and the cul-de-sac just south of Eaglestone Loop.

  • There is no access to Cortaro Farms Road from Hartman Lane north of Eaglestone Loop.

Residents and the traveling public should watch for informational signs with detour information.

Emergency access will always be provided.

This is a series of traffic alerts that will be issued throughout the construction of the Pima County Regional Wastewater Reclamation Department’s Twin Peaks-Blue Bonnet Road Gravity Sewer Project. These alerts will announce construction, detours and street closure information as it affects traffic. Please watch for updated traffic alerts as construction activities progress.

Pima County Regional Wastewater Reclamation Department (RWRD) and their contractor, Achen Gardner, have begun installation of a 15-inch sewer interceptor line along Hartman Lane, between Linda Vista Boulevard and Cortaro Farms Road. The contractor began work south of the intersection at Cortaro Farms Road and is working northward toward Linda Vista Boulevard. The sewer installation along Hartman Lane is expected to take approximately 5 months to complete. 

Sections of Hartman Lane will be completely closed to motorists, pedestrians and bicyclists in the area where the contractor is working.  

The above work schedule may be impacted by weather or mechanical failure.

During the sewer pipe installation, there will be extensive trenching and large equipment entering and exiting the work area.                                                                                                                                           

 Motorists should remain alert and use caution when driving near construction activities.

Travel Alert: Eastbound Interstate 10 closed at Ina Road overnight June 17

Eastbound Interstate 10 between Ina and Orange Grove roads is scheduled to close overnight Monday, June 17, for overhead message sign work. All traffic must exit and will be detoured onto the eastbound frontage road between 10 p.m. Monday and 5 a.m. Tuesday, June 18. 

Ina and Orange Grove roads will also close to all through-traffic at I-10 during those hours.

Motorists who need to cross I-10 should use Cortaro or Sunset roads or Ruthrauff Road/El Camino del Cerro during the closure.

Drivers should expect the following additional restrictions:

  • Westbound Ina Road will close at the I-10 interchange. All traffic will be directed to the westbound I-10 entrance ramp. Motorists will not have access to eastbound I-10.

  • Eastbound Ina Road will close to traffic at Starcommerce Way.  All traffic must turn left onto Starcommerce Way (except for traffic to local businesses), and all vehicles will be directed to the eastbound frontage road.

  • Westbound Orange Grove Road will close at the I-10 interchange. All traffic will be directed to the westbound I-10 entrance ramp. Motorists will not have access to eastbound I-10.

  • Vehicles on eastbound I-10 will not have access to eastbound Ina Road or eastbound Orange Grove Road.

  • Vehicles on westbound I-10 will not have access to westbound Ina Road or westbound Orange Grove Road.

Law enforcement officers will help direct traffic during the closure.

Southern Arizona Paving, in conjunction with the Town of Marana, will be installing monuments in the median at each end of the boundaries of the Ina Road Beautification project beginning Monday, June 17th and ending by Wednesday, June 19th.  Traffic lanes next to the median will be closed in each direction of travel at both locations.

One monument is located west of Ulene Place and the other monument is on the west side of the Canyon Del Oro Wash Bridge. Work hours are from 6:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Traffic Alert: Scenic Drive

 Scenic Drive will be closed for construction operations on Monday, June 17. Road closed signs will mark the construction zone between 9021 and 9011 residences. The construction zone is closed to the public and should never be entered. 

Access to 9021 N Scenic Drive and any residences north will need to use Twin Peaks/Silverbell Road to the north. Access to 9011 N Scenic Drive and any residence south will need to use Pima Farms Road to the south. 

For Residents of Scenic Drive: A sign will be placed at each driveway along Scenic Drive with an arrow showing the direction of ingress/egress for that day. We will make every effort to keep this direction the same throughout the day. 

If garbage cans are within the construction zone, they will be moved outside of the zone to allow for pickup. Our crews will help with mail delivery access if mailboxes are within the construction zone.

Traffic Alert: Tangerine Farms Road & Rillito Village Trail Intersection

Sunland Asphalt is removing and replacing asphalt at the intersection of Tangerine Farms Rd. and Rillito Village Trail for the Town of Marana. Sunland is starting work on Monday, June 17th and completing work on Monday, June 24th. Working hours on the 17th to the 19th will start at 4:00 a.m. and end at 5:00 p.m.

There is going to be a complete closure at this intersection for Rillito Village Trail from Thursday, June 20th to Saturday, June 22nd. It will be shut down from 4:00 a.m. on Thursday the 20th and re-open Saturday at 12:00 p.m. on the 22nd. This project includes asphalt replacement, utility adjustments, and traffic striping.

Overnight lane closures on Interstate 10 near Ina Road set for June 9-12

Motorists who use Interstate 10 near Ina Road should expect overnight lane closures and possible delays from Sunday, June 9, to Wednesday, June 12, for final striping work.

The following lane restrictions will be in place from 8 p.m. each night to 5 a.m. the following morning:

  • Eastbound I-10 will be reduced to a single lane on Sunday, June 9. When work ends early Monday morning, eastbound lanes are set to shift to their new permanent location. Drivers on westbound I-10 may encounter intermittent lane restrictions.

  • Westbound I-10 will be reduced to a single lane on Monday, June 10. Drivers on eastbound I-10 may encounter intermittent lane restrictions.

  • Eastbound I-10 will be reduced to a single lane on Tuesday, June 11. 

  • Eastbound and westbound I-10 will have intermittent lane closures on Wednesday, June 12.

Drivers should proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down and watch for construction personnel and equipment.

Because of mechanical problems, the traffic control changes originally scheduled to begin Wednesday June 5, have been delayed until Friday June 7. Details below: 

On Friday, June 7, the contractor will begin sewer installation along Hartman Lane between Avenida Tierra Alta and the cul-de-sac on Hartman Lane, just south of Eaglestone Loop. (SEE MAP) This closure will be in place 24-hours per day.

  • Southbound only turn movements will be permitted from Avenida Tierra Alta to Hartman Lane. 

  • North and southbound travel will be permitted on Hartman Lane between Cortaro Farms Road and Avenida Tierra Alta. 

  • There is no access to Cortaro Farms Road from Hartman Lane north of Avenida Tierra Alta.

Residents and the traveling public should watch for informational signs with detour information.

On Tuesday, June 4, Brown and White, Inc. will be preforming bridge maintenance at the Santa Cruz Bridge on Sanders Road. Traffic may be delayed for a short period of time due to lane closures. Work will take place between the hours of 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and be completed in one day.

Coachline Boulevard Reconstruction update

The Town of Marana is currently working on the Coachline Boulevard Reconstruction and Pedestrian Crossing Improvements. The work is being completed by Sunland Asphalt & Construction Inc.

On Friday, May 31, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. the contractor will pave a portion of Continental Reserve Loop south of the Silverbell Road intersection (near the QuikMart). Continental Reserve Loop will be closed to all traffic at its intersection with Silverbell Road. This closure will be in place from 4:00 a.m. until 9:00 a.m..

On Wednesday, May 29, the contractor began the final paving operation on Coachline Boulevard, between Twin Peaks and Silverbell roads. Southbound Traffic only will be permitted during this operation. Motorists should expect intermittent side street delays during this work as paving crews move through intersections.

Paving is scheduled to be completed by Monday, June 3, depending on weather conditions or other unforeseen issues.

  • Bicycle traffic will not be permitted through the work area. Bike traffic is asked to use sidewalks.

  • DO NOT park vehicles in the area of construction. They will be towed at owner’s expense.

  • Watch for heavy equipment and large trucks entering and exiting the work area.

  • Please use caution whenever passing through the construction zone

The Arizona Department of Transportation has reopened the exit ramp from westbound Interstate 10 to Orange Grove Road. The ramp was closed as part of the Ina Road interchange project to improve safety for vehicles during peak travel times.

In addition, crews have opened Ina Road to four lanes between I-10 and Camino de las Capas. Lane restrictions on Ina Road west of I-10 will lessen over the next few weeks as crews complete final work in that area.

Night time road work with daytime lane restrictions will occur at the Ina/Thornydale and Ina/Oldfather intersections beginning Monday, May 20 through Thursday, May 23, 2019. This operation is to facilitate utility valve adjustments in the intersections. Construction operations will begin at 8:00 P.M though 6:00 A.M. Day time lane restrictions will be in place throughout the day to allow the curing of the concrete.

Traffic Alert - Tangerine Farms Decorative Rock Project

The Town of Marana will be spreading decorative rock along the shared use path on Tangerine Farms from the water tank (approx. 3000ft east of Lon Adams Rd.) to I-10. Work will begin Monday, May 13th through Friday, May 24th; this will close the shared use path in the work areas and will have minimal traffic delays on Tangerine Farms Road.

Traffic Alert: Orange Grove Lane Closure

On Friday, May 10 Bestway Electric will be installing a water pump and servicing the Town of Marana's Orange Grove Pump Station on Orange Grove Road near the Interstate 10 interchange. Traffic may be delayed for a short period of time due to lane closures. Work is scheduled to take place between the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and conclude that same day.

On Thursday, May 9 and Friday, May 10, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day - Cortaro Farms Road, at the intersection of Hartman Lane, will be reduced to one lane in each direction. These restrictions will be in place while the contractor paves portions of Cortaro Farms Road that were disturbed during the installation of sewer pipe across the Cortaro Farms Road intersection at Hartman Lane.

  • Access to Hartman Lane from Cortaro Farms Road will not be permitted

Beginning Monday, May 13, access to the subdivisions located at the northwest corner of Hartman Lane/Cortaro Farms Road will be from Carriage Drive or Cerius Stavenue only.  Access from southbound Hartman Lane will not be permitted. (SEE MAP) This closure will be in place 24-hours per day.

  • Cortaro Crossing Drive will be closed at Hartman Lane

  • Local traffic only will be permitted south on Hartman Lane between Overton Road and Cortaro Crossing Drive. There is no access to Cortaro Farms Road from Hartman Lane north of Carriage Drive

  • North and southbound travel on Hartman Lane between Cortaro Farms Road and Carriage Drive will be permitted

UPDATE: Coachline Boulevard Reconstruction Project

Coachline Boulevard Reconstruction Project – Twin Peaks Road south to Silverbell Road and from Twin Peaks Road north to Silverbell Road

The Town of Marana is currently working on the Coachline Blvd. Reconstruction and Pedestrian Crossing Improvements. The work is being completed by Sunland Asphalt & Construction. 

On Monday, May 6, the contractor will re-open Coachline Boulevard to two-way travel from Silverbell to Armor Crest roads and will also begin the reconstruction of Coachline Boulevard from Armor Crest Road south to Twin Peaks Road. (See map) 

Due to the existing roadway width, this phase of work will require restricting traffic in a one-way (southbound) only configuration between Armor Crest and Twin Peaks roads. Northbound travel along this portion of Coachline Boulevard will be not be permitted. Work is expected to be completed in early June 2019. 

Construction-related issues to be aware of: 

  • Northbound turn movements and through traffic at the Twin Peaks and Coachline Boulevard intersection will not be permitted 

  • Access to side streets will be permitted from southbound Coachline Boulevard 

  • Left turns only (southbound) will be permitted for motorists exiting side streets at Coachline Boulevard 

  • There may be temporary side street restrictions while work crews pass in front of them 

  • Bicycle traffic will not be permitted through the work area. 

  • DO NOT park vehicles in the area of construction. They will be towed at owner’s expense 

  • Watch for heavy equipment and large trucks entering and exiting the work area 

  • North and southbound travel will be permitted from Silverbell Road to Armor Crest Road (see map – Phase 1)

Work during phase 2 will include: 

  • Milling and removing the existing asphalt 

  • New asphalt paving and striping 

  • Side street paving at “tie-in” with Coachline intersection

Traffic Alert: Twin Peaks-Blue Bonnet Road Gravity Sewer Project

This is one of a series of traffic alerts that will be issued throughout the construction of the Pima County Regional Wastewater Reclamation Department’s Twin Peaks-Blue Bonnet Road Gravity Sewer Project. These alerts will announce construction, detours and street closure information as it affects traffic. Please watch for updated traffic alerts as construction activities progress.

Pima County Regional Wastewater Reclamation Department (RWRD) and their contractor, Achen Gardner, have begun work to install a 15-inch sewer interceptor line along Hartman Lane, between Linda Vista Boulevard and Cortaro Farms Road. The contractor will begin work south of the intersection at Cortaro Farms Road and work northward toward Linda Vista Boulevard. The sewer installation along Hartman Lane is expected to take approximately 5 months to complete.

The contractor has completed installation of the 15-inch sewer interceptor line across the intersection of Cortaro Farms Road and Hartman Lane. Pipe installation will continue north along Hartman Lane. During this phase of the operation, sections of Hartman Lane will be completely closed to motorists, pedestrians and bicyclists in the area where the contractor is working. 

On Wednesday, April 24 through Friday, May 10, Hartman Lane from Cortaro Farms Road to W. Cortaro Crossing Drive will be closed. Work hours will be during the day.

  • Southbound turn movements from W. Cortaro Crossing Drive will not be permitted

  •  Access to Hartman Lane from Cortaro Farms Road will not be permitted

  • Local traffic only will be permitted on Hartman Lane south of Overton Road 

Residents and the traveling public should watch for message boards with detour information.

Emergency access will always be provided.

The above work schedule may be impacted by weather or mechanical failure.

During the sewer pipe installation, there will be extensive trenching and

large equipment entering and exiting the work area. Motorists should remain alert and use caution when driving near construction activities.

For your safety and that of the contractor’s personnel, please comply with traffic control devices, flagging personnel, and/or detour signs.Travel time through the project area may increase during construction so please adjust your schedule accordingly. Construction may restrict traffic lanes and create congestion. Taking alternate routes is suggested.

If inclement weather or other events cause delays, the work may be rescheduled without further notice.

Cortaro Road, eastbound Interstate 10 frontage road to close for paving April 26-27

Cortaro Road at Interstate 10 and the eastbound I-10 frontage road between Cortaro and Gillette roads are scheduled to close starting at 8 p.m. Friday, April 26, for paving.

The following restrictions will be in place from 8 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday, April 27:

  • Cortaro Road will close to all traffic at I-10. Vehicles will not be able to travel from the east side of I-10 to the west side, or from the west side to the east side. 

  • The ramps between westbound I-10 and Cortaro Road will remain open, but vehicles will not have access to Cortaro Road west of I-10. 

  • The exit ramp from eastbound I-10 to Cortaro Road will remain open, but all vehicles must turn right onto Cortaro Road. 

  • The entrance ramp from Cortaro Road to eastbound I-10 will be closed. 

  • During these hours, motorists needing to cross I-10 should use Twin Peaks or Ina roads.

The following restrictions will be in place from 8 p.m. Friday to 8 p.m. Saturday, April 27:

  • The eastbound I-10 frontage road will be closed between Cortaro and Gillette roads. 

  • Motorists who need access to businesses along the frontage road should take Arizona Pavilions to Gillette Road or Hartman Lane and wait for a flagger and pilot car to direct them through the work zone.  

Drivers should proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down and watch for construction personnel and equipment.
