Marana hosting a trio of community conversations
During the month of March, the Town of Marana will be hosting three neighborhood meetings at various locations within the Town. Among the topics being discussed will be:
- Commercial, residential, and roadway construction projects
- Community policing
- Parks and recreation
- Town budget
- upcoming Town Council elections
The Town will also have staff on hand to answer questions regarding code enforcement and animal services. We look forward to seeing everyone there.
The meetings will be held in Dove Mountain, South Marana, and North Marana and are designed to educate the public, as well as let residents interact with Town staff.
Each meeting will begin at 6:00 p.m. and last until approximately 7:30 p.m.

Smell something bad in the air? How residents and the Town can work together to snuff out the stench
Smell something rotten in the air? The Town of Marana is on the case, and residents can join in the effort to help snuff out the stink.
The Town of Marana is aware of ongoing odor issues in the Arizona Pavilions area, and are working through all available channels to address the cause. This particular odor, with its persistence and severity, contradicts the Town's commitment to an excellent quality of life in Marana, and is considered unacceptable. While the Town is not the regulatory agency for air quality complaints (including odors), officials are scheduling meetings with all parties who may be contributing to the odor in the area, and the Pima County Department of Environmental Quality (PDEQ) in order to speed the process and achieve satisfactory results.
Residents are encouraged to join the efforts by contacting PDEQ with specific complaints at (520)724-7432. PDEQ operates programs to monitor air and water quality, hazardous waste, solid waste, and assist in waste minimization and pollution prevention. PDEQ also provides public outreach, education, and citizens' assistance, processes environmental permits, and responds to public complaints and inquiries with investigations and enforcement.
The Town is also welcoming feedback and information from the public that can help address the problem. Specific reports can be filed through the Citizen Feedback form. For general feedback and inquiries, residents can email codeenforcement@maranaAZ.gov, or call 520-382-1926.

Dos and don'ts of parking
The Town permits parking on the roadway within the community as long as the vehicle is properly parked and poses no safety hazard. It is illegal to park on a sidewalk, within 15 feet of a fire hydrant, in a manner that blocks a private/public driveway, in a manner that blocks traffic or any place where official signs prohibit parking. Please also remember that vehicles parked on the street must have their right-hand side wheels parallel and within 18 inches of the curb.
Vehicles parked on the sidewalk are of particular concern since they force pedestrians either into the roadway or onto potentially uneven ground. Additionally, these vehicles impede the ability of pedestrians with disabilities to navigate safely through the neighborhood.
Town code prohibits the parking of commercial vehicles on the street within a residential area unless that vehicle is actively engaged in official business. For example, the loading of a moving truck, delivery of furniture/parcels and similar activity. There is one exception: Town Code allows the temporary parking of recreational vehicles on the street as long as traffic is not obstructed. This parking may not extend beyond 72 hours and is designed to allow our residents to load/unload their recreational vehicles or provide temporary parking for visitors.
