MARANA- Think your car seat is secure? Nearly half of all parents unknowingly install their child's seat incorrectly, but the Marana Police Department can help!
A study by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration found that while most parents and caregivers believe they know how to properly install their car seat, 48 percent have installed their child's car seat incorrectly.
The Marana Police Department offers FREE car seat inspections and installations from a certified Child Passenger Safety Technician. All you have to do is call 520-382-2000 to request an appointment.
Now is the perfect time to check your child’s car seat as it is Child Passenger Safety Week. Child Passenger Safety Week is held from September 15-21st and Saturday, September 21st is National Seat Check Saturday. You can also find any technician in your community by visiting this link.
Remember—A child correctly secured in a correctly installed car seat could save their life.

Every day in 2022, on average, three children under 13 were killed and 429 were injured in cars, SUVs, pickups, and vans.
In 2022, more than a third (39%) of children who died while riding in passenger vehicles were unrestrained.
In passenger cars, car seats reduce the risk of fatal injury by 71% for infants and by 54% for toddlers 1 to 4 years old in passenger cars. For infants and toddlers in light trucks, the corresponding reductions are 58% and 59%, respectively.
NHTSA estimates that since 1975, child restraints have saved the lives of 11,606 children under the age of 5.
