MARANA- Preparation work for final improvements on the Chuck Huckelberry Loop will begin on Monday, May 20, 2024 north of Cortaro Road.
According to the Pima County Wastewater Reclamation Department, the contractor will start preparatory work between Twin Peaks Road and Wade McLean Neighborhood. This work is not expected to impact travel along the Loop and the pathway will remain open.
This is part of the Pima County Wastewater Reclamation Department’s new 24-inch new dual force main sewer system project. Borderland Construction, under contract with the County has finished seven miles of the system between the Continental Ranch Regional Pump Station (CRRPS) and the Tres Ríos Water Reclamation Facility (WRF).
The PCRWRD says Loop path users will notice some staking activities and grading in preparation of upcoming and final Loop pathway improvements.
The improvements include a 1-mile relocation of the existing pathway, surface restoration, landscape enhancements, installation of irrigation, trees and shrubs, and stormwater harvesting basins.
They final improvements are scheduled to take approximately three months to complete.
Loop users can expect a newly paved pathway from just south of the El Rio Neighborhood Park area to Cortaro Road, as a result of the PCRWRD project.
