MARANA- The Town of Marana is seeking public comment on proposed pavement improvements within a 500-year Floodplain at the Marana Regional Airport.
According to the Public Notice:
The Town of Marana, as sponsor of Marana Regional Airport (Airport), intends to reconstruct portions of the Airport’s pavement (West Hangar aprons) to improve drainage. These improvements would replace deteriorated pavement and improve flood risk by preventing storm water ponding on the aprons. The improvements would have no impacts to the floodplains’ natural and beneficial functions such as surface water quality maintenance, groundwater recharge, biological productivity, and wildlife habitat. The project area is entirely disturbed and does not currently provide any natural benefits and is not expected to ever provide benefits. The floodplains’ functions related to natural flood and erosion control may exist in the project area but would not be significantly impacted by the proposed project activities.
