MARANA- The Town of Marana recently finished a project to preserve and reconstruct the Pole Barn structure at Heritage River Park.
The structure had been condemned by the Town’s Building Safety Team due to structural deficiencies. In October of 2021, the Town hired Dibble & Associates Consulting Engineers to do an in-depth assessment of the structure and determine whether it could be properly repaired. Dibble & Associates determined it could be brought back into compliance with Building Safety standards and the company was hired to design construction plans for the town to review and approve.
The Town of Marana then brought Willmeng Construction onboard in August of this year to work on the project. Willmeng Construction used their structural repair specialist sub-contractor, Structural, and their local division operations, Restruction, to reconstruct the pole barn.
A month later, Restruction began filling the large cracks in the columns and performing the epoxy injection stabilization of the columns. New 2 X 4 bracing was treated to create an aged patina and installed along with new connection hardware.
Dibble & Associates and the Town of Marana’s CIP Division approved the work on Friday, October 7th, about a week before the Town’s Fall Festival.
The Town Building Safety Department then did a final inspection on Wednesday, October 12th and the building permit was officially closed, just in time for the festival.
The newly reconstructed Pole Barn was used for the first time at the Town of Marana Presents: Fall Festival of October 25, 2022.
