Two members of Town of Marana staff were recognized at the last annual business meeting for the Southern Arizona Chapter of the International Code Council. Garrett McMinn was awarded Plans Examiner of the Year, and Manny Carrillo was awarded Building Inspector of the Year. Award winners are chosen by an anonymous vote from peers within the Southern Arizona Chapter of the ICC.

Garrett McMinn works on all Town of Marana residential reviews, from custom homes to small garage additions, and works one-on-one with builders and architects on Marana model home communities. McMinn says of his position that he enjoys the problem solving that comes along with working with the public, and finding alternative solutions when problems arise.

Manny Carrillo is the only commercial inspector for the Town of Marana, and does all first inspections for commercial properties in the Town. Having been a carpenter his entire life and previously a supervisor, Carrillo understands both sides of doing inspections. He feels having that empathy for both parties is what makes him best at his job, and he looks forward to the increasing development of Marana, and sustaining the family-oriented spirit of the Town.
