Residents wait in line at the Vaccination Clinic
This past Saturday, the Community & Neighborhood Services Department of the Town of Marana, in partnership with the Humane Society of Southern Arizona, held their fall vaccination clinic for dogs. This year, the Town of Marana set a personal record, giving vaccinations to 94 dogs in 2.5 hours.
Of the 94 dogs seen, 74 were dogs of Marana residents and 22 were outside the Town limits. The non-Marana dogs came from all around the region, including Avra Valley, northeast of Ina and I-10, Picture Rocks, Pinal County and even one from Vail. Staff also had many Marana residents license their dogs during the event. Nine new dog licenses were processed and 12 renewal licenses.
“This was a great event and I wanted to give a big thank you to all those involved.” said Lisa Shafer, Director of the Community & Neighborhood Services Department. “As always, the Humane Society Clinic staff were just amazing! We are so fortunate to get to work with them.”
This event is held twice a year, and provides free rabies vaccinations to dogs of Marana residents, and discounted rabies vaccinations to non-residents. Other canine vaccinations like DAPP, Bordatella, and Leptospirosis were also available.
