August and September Construction Schedule on Tangerine Road

Monday, August 22 - Thursday, August 25

Crews will be working at the Tangerine Road and Twin Peaks/ Dove Mountain intersection in preparation for the Tangerine Road widening. The traveling public can expect the following restrictions:

  • The existing dedicated left turn lanes from Twin Peaks/ Dove Mountain to westbound and eastbound Tangerine Road will be closed; however, left hand turns will be permitted. Traffic control will be in place. Expect delays.
  • Barricades will be removed and travel lanes will return to their typical configuration August 26, 2016.  

Monday, August 22 - Thursday, September 1

Crews will be working on Tangerine Road between Twin Peaks/Dover Mountain and Camino de Oeste to accommodate the upcoming traffic shift. The traveling public can expect the following restrictions:

  • Temporary shoulder and lane restrictions will be in place.
  • The speed limit will be 35 mph.
  • Expect delays.

**No work will be conducted on September 5, 2016 as it is Labor Day.

Tuesday, September 6 - Thursday, September 8

Traffic will be shifted on Tangerine Road between Twin Peaks/Dove Mountain and Camino de Oeste to help facilitate the construction of the new alignment of Tangerine Road. This work will be done at night from 8 pm - 5 am.  The traveling public can expect the following restrictions:

  • One lane of travel on Tangerine will be maintained in each direction.
  • At the Tangerine Road and Dove Mountain intersection there will no longer be a dedicated right turn lane; however, right turns will be permitted.
  • At Tangerine Road and Camino de Oeste there will no longer be a dedicated right turn lane; however, right turns will be permitted.
  • The speed limit will be reduced to 25 mph on Tangerine Road just west of Twin Peaks/Dove Mountain to Camino de Oeste
  • Temporary concrete barriers will be in place to delineate the work zone as well as temporary roadway striping.

The above traffic control is anticipated to be in place for the next several months.

Tangerine Road Work on Aug 8

Beginning Monday night, August 8th, from 8 pm to 5 am, crews from Tangerine Corridor Constructors will be conducting utility work on Tangerine Road from Camino de Oeste to just west of Dove Mountain Boulevard. The traveling public can anticipate the following impacts:

  • There will be intermittent lane restrictions on Tangerine Road between Camino de Oeste and Dove Mountain Boulevard. Traffic will be guided through the impacted work area one direction at a time. Flaggers will be on site to direct traffic through the work area.
  • The speed limit will be reduced to 25 mph.
  • Expect delays

This night work is anticipated to continue throughout the week of August 8th; no work will occur on the weekends.  

Additionally, crews will continue ongoing daytime work. The speed limit will be resumed to 35 mph during the day.  

Ina Road/I-10 construction update as of July 22

The Interstate 10, Ina Road Traffic Interchange project in Marana, north of Tucson, continues its first phase of construction, anticipated to last through early 2017. Ina Road will remain open during this phase. In addition, major utility work will also begin and continue throughout this phase. The work is scheduled as follows:

Daytime Utility Work (currently ongoing 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.)

  • Lane closures on the eastbound Interstate 10 frontage road and on Starcommerce Way are in place through late July for utility work. Message boards and crews will guide drivers through the work zone. Interstate 10 will remain open in both directions during the work.

Overnight Median Work on Ina Road (8 p.m. to 5 a.m.)

  • Ina Road is narrowed to one lane in each direction between the Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) and Camino de la Cruz intermittently nightly through early August to allow crews to remove and repave the center median islands to accommodate utility line work.
  • Once this work is completed, Ina Road will revert to two lanes in each direction; however, intermittent left-turn lane restrictions will remain in place for approximately three months to accommodate daytime utility line work scheduled to begin in early August.

Overnight Work on Eastbound I-10 (8 p.m. to 5 a.m.)

 

  • The right lane on eastbound I-10 will be closed from 8 p.m. Sunday (July 24) to 5 a.m. Monday (July 25) for sign removal north of Ina Road.

Work on I-10 Frontage Road (around the clock)

  • The left lane on the eastbound I-10 frontage road near Starcommerce Way will be closed beginning 8 p.m. Sunday (July 24) through late summer for widening to accommodate the reconstruction of the frontage road in preparation of the traffic detour when Ina Road closes in early 2017.
  • Beginning at approximately 6 a.m. Monday (July 25) the westbound I-10 frontage road will be closed around the clock between Ina Road and Cortaro Road through the end of the year to allow crews to reconstruct and widen the frontage road in preparation of the traffic detour when Ina Road closes in early 2017.
  • Massingale Road will be closed at the westbound I-10 frontage road during this work. Drivers may use Camino de Oeste as an alternate route.
  • All ramps will remain open.

Daytime Utility Work (6 a.m. to 4 p.m.)

  • In early August, utility line work will begin along Ina Road, east of I-10, from the UPRR to Camino de la Cruz. The work will require intermittent left-turn lane restrictions to remain in place for approximately three months.
  • Also in early August, the eastbound I-10 frontage road between Starcommerce Way and Ina Road may have intermittent lane restrictions during the day for utility work.

Daytime Detour Work on I-10 (6 a.m. to 4 p.m.)

  • In mid- to late August, four crossovers on I-10 will be built, two north of the Canyon del Oro (CDO) wash and the other two north of Massingale Road.
  • Traffic will remain in its current configuration until Ina Road closes. 
  • When Ina Road closes in early 2017, westbound I-10 traffic will be detoured to the westbound I-10 frontage road between Orange Grove Road and Ina Road and back on to I-10 north of Massingale Road. Eastbound I-10 traffic will be shifted to the westbound I-10 lanes while crews begin the reconstruction on the west side (eastbound I-10). A temporary connection ramp will be built from eastbound Ina Road to the eastbound I-10 frontage road (near the Mike Jacobs Sports Park entrance).

The reconstruction project to fully reconstruct the interchange will improve traffic operations on I-10 and on the Ina Road traffic interchange. The project consists of widening I-10 to three lanes in each direction and Ina Road to two lanes in each direction from Silverbell Road to Camino de la Cruz.

ADOT works to inform the public about planned roadway restrictions, but there is a possibility that unscheduled closures or restrictions may occur due to weather or equipment issues.

Drivers are reminded to share the road, be cautious, and slow down while traveling through the work zone.

Utility work on Orange Grove Road underneath I-10 in Tucson

Eastbound Orange Grove Road, underneath I-10, will have a right lane closure up to the railroad bridge on Wednesday (July 13) from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. for utility work.

All ramps will remain open during the work.

Traffic Alert: Utility work on Tangerine Road starting July 10

Beginning Sunday night, July 10 from 8 pm to 5 am, crews from Tangerine Corridor Constructors will begin working on utility crossings on Tangerine Road from Camino de Oeste to just west of Dove Mountain Boulevard. The traveling public can anticipate the following impacts:

 
  • There will be intermittent lane restrictions on Tangerine Road between Camino de Oeste and Dove Mountain Boulevard.
  • Traffic will be guided through the impacted work area one side at a time. Flaggers will be on site to direct traffic through the work area.
  • The speed limit will be reduced 25 mph.
  • Expect delays

Work is anticipated to continue for the next several weeks; however, no work will occur on the weekends.  

Traffic Update: Speed Limit Reduction on Tangerine Road

During construction along Tangerine Road, the speed limit will be reduced to 35MPH from Camino De Oeste to Dove Mountain Blvd through the first Joint Utility Trench (JUT) Segment.  This speed reduction is scheduled to be in effect through the end of July and the limits will be adjusted dependent on work activities.  There will also be intermittent night work through this same period and limits for JUT lateral crossings.  

Utility work on I-10 frontage road and Starcommerce Way north of Tucson

Utility work is underway at the intersection of the eastbound Interstate 10 frontage road and Starcommerce Way in Marana, north of Tucson. The work is in preparation of the Interstate 10, Ina Road Traffic Interchange project to fully reconstruct the interchange scheduled to begin next month. The utility work is planned as follows:

Lane closures on the eastbound Interstate 10 frontage road and on Starcommerce Way are in place from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. through mid-July for utility work.

  • Message boards and crews will guide drivers through the work zone.
  • Two-way traffic will be maintained at all times.
  • Interstate 10 will remain open in both directions during the work.
  • This work is expected to conclude in mid-July.

The reconstruction project will improve traffic operations on I-10 and on the Ina Road traffic interchange. The project consists of widening I-10 to three lanes in each direction and Ina Road to two lanes in each direction from Silverbell Road to Camino de la Cruz.

Orange Grove and UPRR Bridge Painting

The bridge at Orange Grove and Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) will be painted beginning May 31 – June 17. The work will be done at night from 9 P.M. to 5 A.M.

For your safety and that of the contractor’s personnel, please comply with traffic control devices, flagging personnel, and/or detour signs.

Travel time through the project area may increase during construction, so please adjust your schedule accordingly. Construction may restrict traffic lanes and create congestion. Taking alternate routes is suggested.

If inclement weather or other events cause delays, the work may be rescheduled without further notice.

Utility work is underway near Interstate 10 and Ina Road traffic interchange in Marana. The work is in preparation of the Interstate 10, Ina Road Traffic Interchange reconstruction project, which is scheduled to begin in summer 2016.

The utility work is planned as follows:

The westbound Interstate 10 frontage road will be closed from Orange Grove Road to Cortaro Road early in the morning Friday, June 3 from 12 A.M. - 5 A.M. for utility work.

  • The westbound I-10 on- and off-ramps at Ina Road will be closed during the work.
  • The ramps at Orange Grove Road and Cortaro Road will remain open.
  • Interstate 10 will remain open in both directions during the work.

The reconstruction project will improve traffic operations on I-10 and on the Ina Road traffic interchange. The project consists of widening I-10 to three lanes in each direction, and Ina Road to two lanes in each direction from Silverbell Road to Camino de la Cruz.

Traffic alert: Temporary closure of Postvale Road between Moore and Barnett on May 26th

On Thursday, May 26th, between 9:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., Postvale Road will be closed to traffic between Moore Road and Barnett Road so that construction crews can repave a segment of the roadway north of the Postvale/Moore Intersection. Sandario Road between Moore and Barnett is designated to be the detour route for all traffic. Directional signs and traffic control devices will be set up to guide vehicles around the Postvale Road closure and along the detour route.

For your safety and that of the contractor’s personnel, please comply with all traffic control devices, flagging personnel, and/or detour signs.

Travel time through the project area may increase during construction so please adjust your schedule accordingly. Construction may restrict traffic lanes and create congestion. Taking alternate routes is suggested.

Traffic alert: 2-week closure of Moore Road between I-10 and Postvale to begin May 16th

Moore Road west of Interstate 10 will be closed between the I-10 frontage road and Postvale Road for approximately two weeks beginning May 16th. The temporary closure is occurring in conjunction with the Town of Marana’s Tangerine/Downtown Sewer Conveyance System project. Kinkaid Civil Construction, the project contractor, will be installing a sewer pipe across Moore Road.

Barnett Road is designated to be the detour route for all traffic. Directional signs and traffic control devices will be set up to guide vehicles around the Moore Road closure and along the detour route.

Marana police to direct mall traffic during grand opening week

With preparations underway for the opening of Tucson Premium Outlets at Marana, Arizona next week, the Town of Marana is excited to take part in the occasion.  After much anticipation, the Grand Opening has finally arrived.

The mall will officially open its doors on October 1, with Grand Opening festivities continuing throughout the weekend until October 4.  Its hours on Thursday through Saturday will be from 10:00 A.M. to 10:00 P.M.  On Sunday, it will open at 10:00 A.M., and close at 7:00 P.M.

The Town anticipates heavy traffic due to the opening and is taking appropriate precautions to ensure minimal disruption for drivers.  The Marana Police Department will be directing traffic throughout the weekend at both parking lot entrances and at the Twin Peaks exits of I-10, and will work to ensure: 

  • Highway traffic will not back up at Twin Peaks
  • Off-ramps will remain open
  • Drivers will be directed to the Outlets’ primary parking lot, as well as two off-site overflow lots  
  • Mall traffic will not impede through traffic

Handicap parking will be available near all major entrances to the Outlets.

Tangerine Road Traffic Alert

On August 28th 2015, the Town of Marana began salvaging native plants and storing in a nursery on Tangerine Road near Camino de Manana. Throughout the month of September, the Town of Marana will be stockpiling import fill materials in the same area.  

This activity will take place in the evening from 8 P.M. to 4 A.M. and is scheduled to occur intermittently through September. Motorists should anticipate:

  • Increased truck traffic
  • Large equipment along the shoulders of the roadway
